Can a small battery crank an engine.
The battery capability to crank is not measured by the physical size but by the cold cranking ampere (CCA) that the battery holds. CCA determines the power a battery has to start an engine on cold winter morning. The larger the engine, the larger CCA is required to crank. In places where there is no cold weather, CA is used.

What is DIN number of a battery?
It indicates the Ah (ampere-hour) that a battery has. For example, DIN75 (75 Ah) battery can deliver a constant 75 amp of charge for one hour. In other words, it also measures battery power capacity. For example, DIN75 (or 75 Ah) battery can store more electrical power than a DIN66 (or 66 Ah) battery.

How does the battery get recharged?
In normal case, the battery is use to turn on starter-motor which in turn will rotate the crankshaft to start the engine. Once the engine started, the alternator, powered by serpentine belt from the crankshaft, functions as a power generator to charge the battery.

When should car battery be replaced?
Over thousand of cycles of recharging, the battery will lose its ability to hold electric charge. The common sign is weak engine crank.
